A great YouTube title for a video is absolutely critical for views. Here’s a few principles for how to write them, as I was asked. 🧵/ 10 1. Generally, use active rather than passive verbs. “I Ate The World’s Largest Apple” ✨beats✨ “The Largest Apple Eaten By Me”
2. You have to understand what your specific audience understands, before they click on the title. Veritasium gave an example of title: ⚫️ The Collatz Conjecture which wouldn’t appeal to the audience he wanted…compared to ⚫️ The Simplest Math Problem No-One Can Solve
3. Focus on the impact that someone might feel when seeing it. Veritasium gave this fantastic example: ⚫️Asteroids: World’s Biggest Threat …which performed poorly, until changed to: ⚫️These are the asteroids to worry about. And then it was a banger.
4b. ⚫️ I Pranked America’s Most Racist Man ⚫️ Copying others’ art to learn their secrets ⚫️ When Your Phone Is At 1%… Actual YouTube storytelling starts at the thumbnail/title, not the video.
